A Biobank collects, preserves, and disseminates human samples (such as blood, tissue, saliva, urine, etc.) alongside associated clinical health information for use by researchers.

Established in 2016, the BC Genitourinary Cancer Biobank (GUBB) is a pivotal resource that promotes research collaborations by ethically collecting, storing, and providing researchers with a diverse array of human samples and clinical health information, all with patient consent obtained for use in research projects. Currently, with 3499 enrolled patients, our expanding repository showcases a breakdown of cancer cases - 59% prostate cancer, 16% bladder cancer, 14% testicular cancer, 11% kidney cancer, and 0.2% penile cancer, offering a comprehensive spectrum of GU clinical cancer data.

The major types of Genitourinary Cancers include cancers affecting the bladder, kidneys, prostate, testicles and other parts of the urinary and reproductive systems.
