Congratulations to Dr. Florian Kuchenbauer (Kuchenbauer Lab) who recently has been awarded a two-year Canadian Cancer Society Innovation Grant as part of a research team consisted of investigators from Simon Fraser University (Dr. Robert Britton, the Lead PI, and Drs. David Vocadlo and Matthew Nodwell) for their proposal entitled “Small molecule inhibitors of O-GlcNAc transferase: validation of a new anticancer target”.

Elizabeth Bulaeva (Eaves Lab) successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “Analysis of a de novo c-MYC-induced model of human Acute Myeloid Leukemia”.

Building on a BC Cancer discovery from decades past, a new combination treatment has shown promise to overcome drug resistance and relapse in people with chronic myeloid leukemia. 

Building off the discovery of an enzyme called integrin-linked kinase (ILK) made by BC Cancer distinguished scientist Dr. Shoukat Dedhar 24 years ago, BC Cancer’s Drs. Xiaoyan Jiang and Shoukat Dedhar have made a significant advancement in understanding the role of this enzyme in blood cancers.
