Practice-based research is where front-line providers, patient and family partners, and other collaborators engage to tackle complex, real-world challenges that directly affect patient care and experience. To support practice-based research, the BC Cancer Nursing and Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation (NAHRKT) team is pleased to announce the inaugural BC Cancer Nursing and Allied Health Research Grant Competition.

Breaking Down Language Barriers to Radiation Therapy Patient Education

​​​​​A cancer diagnosis can cause anxiety and fear for patients and their families. This can be heightened when faced with all of the treatment options, such as Radiation Therapy (RT), and diagnostic tests. Research shows that most patients know very little about RT, so it is important to ensure patients have the information they need prior to treatment.

The BC Cancer Practice-based Research Challenge program offers nursing and allied health clinicians who have little or no research experience the opportunity to learn basic research skills and work with a mentor to develop a small research project that has potential to improve clinical practice and patient outcomes.​
