Dexter Kim and Danny Liu awarded BC Cancer Studentship

BC Cancer Studentships are sponsored by the BC Cancer Foundation and support senior undergraduate university students and/or junior medical or dental students seeking hands-on training in cancer research in British Columbia. These summer studentships may address any discipline of cancer research including clinical, translational, basic, behavioural and population research areas.

Congratulations to Danny Liu and Dexter Kim on receiving this year's BC Cancer Studentships.

Danny Liu

Danny Liu (Hay Lab)

  • Project title: Non-viral gene transfer using a transposon-transposase system for development of armoured CAR-T cells

Congratulations to Makenna Clement-Ranney (Hoodless Lab) for receiving the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada-Undergraduate Student Research Awards (NSERC-USRA) for her research entitled, "Establishing a model to study human liver development in vitro through comparison of 2D hiPSC cell culture and 3D hiPSC-derived organoids."

USRAs nurture a student's interest and fully develop their potential for a research career in the natural sciences and engineering (NSE). This award also encourages students to undertake graduate studies in these fields by providing research work experience that complements their studies in an academic setting.

Congratulations to Leon Li and Quentin Michalchuck for their successful applications to the Faculty of Medicine Multidisciplinary Research Program in Medicine (FoM MRPM)

Congratulations to Leon Li and Quentin Michalchuck (Brinkman Lab) for their successful applications to the Faculty of Medicine Multidisciplinary Research Program in Medicine (FoM MRPM).

FoM MRPM provides undergraduate students with an opportunity to explore their interest in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research by undertaking a summer project supervised by a cross-faculty pair of researchers based on the success of the University of British Columbia at Okanagan’s Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Projects in Health (MURPH) program.
