The BC Cancer Nursing and Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation department is pleased to invite you to our next session of the Research & Knowledge Translation Learning Collaborative. The goal of the Learning Collaborative is to provide a forum for nurses and allied health providers to strengthen their skills and competencies related to research and knowledge translation best practices.

For this session we are pleased to host Dr. Jae-Yung Kwon, assistant professor from the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria and a co-lead for the Health Services and Systems cluster at the Institute of Aging and Lifelong Health. Dr. Kwon is currently leading a Knowledge Translation project in collaboration with BC Cancer to develop educational tools using 'personas' to help clinicians incorporate PROMs into practice. 'Personas' are hypothetical representations of patients that embody their life stories. 'Personas' are a valuable educational tool for demonstrating the benefits of using PROM scores to inform shared decision-making.

In this session, Dr. Kwon will introduce a new online learning module that was developed in collaboration with stakeholders and patient partners to help health care providers:

  • Apply 'personas' as a tool to understand patient experiences
  • Identify strategies to address emotional needs of older adults with cancer
  • Demonstrate PROMs in practice

Please join us on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
