Andrea Knox joined BC Cancer in 2009 as a nurse in the Radiation Therapy program in Kelowna. She quickly moved into a provincial role with Professional Practice Nursing and since that time has contributed to the growth and advancements in nursing practice at BC Cancer over the last ten years. In her previous role as senior practice leader for nursing at BC Cancer – Kelowna, Andrea worked collaboratively on many organizational initiatives at the provincial and regional levels including optimizing the outpatient nursing role, ACU resource intensity weighting and implementing the BC Cancer Smoking Cessation Program. In her current role as Director for Nursing and Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation, Andrea brings a strong transformational leadership style and strategic lens to support the advancement of nursing and allied health research at BC Cancer.

After graduating with a BSN from UBC-Okanagan in 2006, Andrea completed specialty oncology training through the Cross Cancer Institute in 2010 and later achieved national certification in oncology nursing in 2011. Andrea completed her Master of Science in Nursing program at UBC-O in 2019 and received the Bryce Carnine Memorial Award for her graduate work in outpatient nursing role optimization in oncology. Andrea holds provincial and national leadership positions with the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO) as Director-at-Large: External Relations and president of the BC CANO Chapter. She also holds the position of adjunct professor in the school of nursing at UBC-Okanagan.
