Potential biobank participants, who have or will receive medical treatment for a tumour, and are over the age of 18, may be referred by their Physician or they may self-refer to the biobank.
When a referral is received a staff member will discuss participation with the potential participant. It is important that the potential participant has an informed consent discussion with a staff member to make sure they understand what they would be agreeing to. The potential participant may also have questions that they would like answered before making a decision.
Potential participants may provide consent to the biobank before or after their medical procedures.
Participating is voluntary and will not affect medical care if the potential participant decides to participate or decides not to participate.
