Investigators from BC Cancer – Prince George (Centre for the North) are co-authors on three international collaborative publications featured in the same issue of The Lancet Oncology. These papers reflect the centre’s engagement in global research collaborations that shape how cancer care is studied, reported, and delivered.
Although BC Cancer – Prince George serves a relatively small population in northern British Columbia, its clinicians contribute to large international research networks spanning Europe, North America and Asia. Participation in these collaborations allows physicians in Prince George to contribute to high-impact academic work while continuing to deliver cancer care across a geographically vast region.
These publications span several areas of oncology research, including metastasis-directed therapy for oligometastatic prostate cancer, international consensus standards for reporting outcomes in patients receiving multiple courses of radiation therapy, and global recommendations for clinical trial definitions and reporting in malignant spinal cord compression.

These collaborations highlight how smaller centres can contribute meaningfully to international academic oncology. By participating in global research initiatives, BC Cancer - Prince George helps advance evidence-based cancer care while ensuring that perspectives from regional and rural practice settings are represented in the international oncology literature. Such partnerships strengthen academic connections across institutions and reinforce BC Cancer's role in collaborative research that informs clinical practice worldwide.
