Dr. Kim Chi, medical oncologist and clinician-scientist with BC Cancer, has been named a highly cited researcher in 2025 by Clarivate, a global organization that analyzes academic publications, citations and research impact.
“This recognition reflects my career-long commitment to improving care for people with prostate cancer,” says Dr. Kim Chi, medical oncologist, BC Cancer. “Our research has always been driven by the needs of patients, and this honour highlights the collective efforts of our collaborators, co-investigators and dedicated staff who make this work possible.”
Dr. Chi, also a professor with the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, has earned national and international recognition for his contributions to prostate cancer research. His work in genitourinary cancers, with a focus on prostate cancer and investigational new drugs, has helped shape international standards of care for patients with advanced disease.

Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers program recognizes individuals whose published work has demonstrated significant and far-reaching influence in their field. Honourees have authored multiple papers that rank in the top one per cent most cited for their subject area and publication year, as per Clarivate’s Web of Science Core Collection over the past 11 years. This is a clear indicator of sustained research excellence and global impact.
In addition to citation performance, Clarivate refines its annual list using a combination of quantitative indicators, qualitative analysis and expert evaluation to ensure a balanced and rigorous assessment of global research leadership.
