We are pleased to welcome Dr. Tim Lee as Department Head. Dr. Lee has served in an interim leadership role for several years and has been part of the department (former Cancer Control Research) for over three decades. His long-standing involvement provides deep institutional knowledge and continuity, which will be invaluable as the department builds on its strengths and expands its research portfolio.
Dr. Lee is a pioneer in medical image analysis and skin cancer detection. With a PhD in Computer Science from Simon Fraser University, his work bridges technology and oncology. He has led innovative research in melanoma detection, utilizing machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze digital photographs.
As a Distinguished Scientist at BCCRI and a Professor at UBC, Dr. Lee brings interdisciplinary expertise that will strengthen the department’s leadership as it enters its next phase of growth and development.
