The BC Cancer Nursing and Allied Health Research and Knowledge Translation department is pleased to invite you to our next session of the Research & Knowledge Translation Learning Collaborative at 12 noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16. The goal of the Learning Collaborative is to provide a forum for nurses and allied health providers to strengthen their skills and competencies related to research and knowledge translation best practices.
For this session we are pleased to host Kevin Sauvé, head of knowledge translation at Canada's Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre (GSC) at BC Cancer, for a presentation that will introduce us to the concept and practice of knowledge translation – the art and science of moving research-based evidence into practice.
By the end of this session you will be able to:
- Define knowledge translation (KT)
- Identify the difference between knowledge translation and related concepts (e.g. science communication, knowledge dissemination)
- Identify the relationship between research-based evidence and KT (what is the “knowledge" in knowledge translation)
- Recognize how KT helps bridge the knowledge to practice gap to improve patient outcomes and enhance health care services.
