Dr. Bhatti’s research has identified that melatonin suppression in nightshift workers is associated with a reduced ability to repair oxidative DNA damage. Such damage contributes to increased risks of cancer. Dr. Bhatti is in the process of launching a trial of melatonin supplementation among nightshift workers to determine if such an intervention can restore their ability to repair cancer-causing DNA damage.
