Gillian started research in Dr Lum's lab as an undergraduate student three years ago and is now working on their PhD in Biochemistry. Their thesis project involves developing novel gene-editing strategies to enhance the metabolism of CAR-T cells for treatment of ovarian cancer. Before their career in science, they spent several years on the national cycling team, and won a medal at the London Olympics. When not in the lab, Gillian can be found trail running, taking dance classes, or reading too many science fiction novels.
