Research Interests

Cancer Progression, Genomics, and Molecular Systems Biology

     Currently my research interests are in cancer biology. I am working on projects focused on the identification of novel genetic alterations on a genome-wide scale in breast, esophageal, retinoblastoma, pancreatic, prostate, and lung cancers. Utilizing the sub-megabase resolution tiling array Comparative Genomic Hybridization (SMRT aCGH) developed by our lab we can identify copy number alterations on a whole genome level with samples of extremely limited material, such as early stage lesions. By comparing copy number changes between tumor subtypes we identify frequently altered genes and pathways to provide insight into disease progression and treatment response. The incorporation of this information with gene expression and methylation data will give us a better understanding of the biology behind cancer and provide us with new potential treatment targets and early diagnostic tools.
