Our Group

 Experimental Therapeutics comprises research scientists (Drs. Bally, Gascoyne, Helgason,  Ng, Wang, Waterhouse, Yapp) and clinical researchers (Drs. Blanke, Chi, Chia Gelmon, Gill, Klasa, Kollmansberger, Laskin, Lim and O’ Reilly) in Medical Oncology who receive strong collaborative support from Pathology (Dr. Huntsman) and other research units (Drs. Gleave, Gunns, Dunn, Jia, Roberge and Anderson). Under the co-leadership of a scientific research head (Dr. Bally) and a clinical research head (Dr. Gelmon), Experimental Therapeutics has established a strong multidisciplinary program of grant and industry funded research projects and clinical trials.

Through a strategy embracing collaborative programs with research and clinical scientists allied across major tumor sites and institutes such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, GI cancer, lymphoma, brain tumors, etc, and VGH/UBC researchers at the Prostate centre, Children's hospital, UBC, NCIC, and US Cooperative groups, Experimental Therapeutics is becoming well respected internationally for our proficiency in linking preclinical and clinical research. This effort relies on existing strengths (access patient tissues, tumor group, CAIS, Tumor Registry and Systemic program clinical data bases tracking patient's stages of disease, therapy and outcomes) within the BC Cancer Agency.
