Research Interests:

It is well established that the presence of Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) strongly correlates with increased survival in high grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC). Moreover, our group has recently shown that CD8+ TIL bearing the intraepithelial lymphocyte marker CD103 (αEβ7, ITGAE) are a particularly beneficial prognostic feature. CD103 is a TGFβ-regulated integrin that binds to E-cadherin on epithelial cells and demarcates tissue resident memory T cells. Despite their prognostic significance, it is unknown whether CD103+ T cells make ideal candidates for Adoptive Cell Transfer (ACT) for the treatment of cancer. My research sheds light on the trafficking patterns of T cells differentially expressing cell adhesion molecules and may lead to improved selection and development of TIL products for adoptive cell therapy.
