In many cancers, the immune response to tumour cells may be ineffective. My project involves using oncolytic viruses as a way to specifically target tumour cells for immune destruction. We are testing which attenuated recombinant viruses can elicit the best immune response in different cancer models in mice. As such, I manage the Nelson Lab transgenic mice colony, and work with collaborators interested in our models. In addition, I am also part of our histology core, and perform multicolour immunohistochemistry for quantifying different cell types, as well as optimizing our immunofluorescence protocol.
