Conclusions
  • As a group, the Z-scores of lesions classified as CIS by conventional histopathology were different from dysplasia and that dysplasia was distinct from normal.
  • There was considerable overlap between the grades of dysplasia; hyperplasia and metaplasia also overlapped dysplasia.
  • A better correlation was observed between the morphometric Z score and allelic loss and fluorescence imaging than with conventional histopathology.
  • Morphometric chemoprevention results were more consistent than histopathological assessment.
  • Morphometric measurements may be a good intermediate endpoint biomarker.
