 Cancer Imaging
Objectives
  • To develop a high resolution ultrasound imaging system for the early detection of breast cancer. This system will combine pulsed computed tomography (UCT) for the quantitative characterization of tissue density and compressibility, as well as ultrasound scatter imaging for determining tissue directivity patterns
  • To use pulsed beams of ultrasound and apply digital signal processing techniques from the relatively new field of wavelet analysis as a way of improving the quality (contrast and resolution) of ultrasound images
  • To initiate a new research program in ultrasound imaging at the BCCRC with the intent of developing clinically-viable technologies
