    Bacterial Comparative Genomic Hybridization

Identification of genes involved in cancer progression and genes involved in bacterial pathogenesis. The majority of my work has dealt with the use of Two-dimensional DNA electrophoresis to compare large genomes. Along with my supervisor I have developed a Bacterial Comparative Genomic Hybridization (BCGH) method for the identification of acquired DNA in bacterial genomes. This technique has been applied to the identification of drug resistance both at the DNA and RNA level. Adaptations of this technique are also being used to look at mutations in specific cancer linked genes as well as whole-genome scanning of alterations in lung cancer.
